The short version
We collect as little as possible, we use it only to run our programs, and we never sell or share it. We count visits with Google Analytics so we know what's working. We don't record your sessions, sell your data, or run ad pixels on this site.
What we collect
Only what you type into a form on this site:
- Lernin' Stuff sign-up: parent or guardian name, email, phone, your kids' first names and ages, your donation or scholarship choice, and any notes you add.
- Contact and volunteer forms: your name, email, phone, best time to call, what you're interested in, and your message.
- Mailing list sign-ups: your email and, if you choose, your name.
Our forms don't store anything on this website. When you hit send, your answers go through Web3Forms, a form delivery service, and reach us as a regular email.
Kids
We never collect information directly from children. A parent or guardian fills out the sign-up form, and we ask only for kids' first names and ages so we can plan the class. We don't ask for birthdates, schools, or photos.
Photos
We do not photograph the people we help. Ever. Photographing a person in their time of need is shitty behavior, and we won't do it. We report our impact in numbers instead.
Scholarships
Scholarship requests are private and no-questions-asked. Only the people running the class see them.
Donations
Donations are handled by Givebutter, a secure payment service. We never see or store your card number. Givebutter's own privacy policy covers the information you give them. If you set up a recurring gift, you can cancel it any time.
Services that load on our pages
Like almost every website, some of our pages load tools from other companies. When your browser loads them, those companies can see basic connection details such as your IP address:
- Givebutter for the donate button
- Google Analytics for counting visits (see below)
- Tailwind CSS for page styling
- jsDelivr and Plotly for charts on a few pages
Our fonts are stored on our own site, so loading them doesn't send anything to Google or anyone else. If you pick a display theme on our site, your browser remembers that choice on your own device. It never reaches us.
We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages and donate buttons get used, so we can tell whether our free nonprofit Google ads are working. It sets cookies in your browser and sends Google details like the pages you visit, your device type, and your rough location. We also run free nonprofit ads on Google Search through the Google Ad Grants program. When you click one of our ads, Google adds a tracking code to the link so we can see which ads bring visitors to our site. We don't use your visits to target you with ads elsewhere: we keep Google's personalized advertising and other advertising features turned off, and Google Analytics never receives anything you type into a form. You can block it with an ad blocker or Google's opt-out add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Emails from us
We only email you about things you asked for. Every newsletter includes our mailing address and a way to unsubscribe, and we honor unsubscribe requests within 10 business days. You can also just reply and ask us to take you off the list.
